This is a cool idea We will be posting …don’t forget on Aug. 2nd 2013 Galena is having an art show quilt show arts/craft fair and 2 bands playing all up on Rt66 and main from 10 am to 12 pm

Great idea. But it’s interesting that the Route 66 International Festival to be held in Joplin, MO, 1-3 Aug 2013, isn’t listed. Maybe that event will show up in a day or two.

This is what I got from Visit MO: VisitMo has a full mobile site from which someone should be able to find Route 66 attractions in Missouri. As part of that mobile site, users have access to trip ideas, and we have a set of route 66 trip ideas available.

I think there were attractions, businesses, historic spots that would appeal to the Route 66 traveler on their mobile site. If we had a free app/site that would let travelers know what was available in our state, it would promote Missouri’s presence, it would give them more reasons to stop in Missouri. If they get more of this in Illinois and Oklahoma, there may be less reason to stop in Missouri for attractions and businesses.
I think some of the info is out there, but it probably needs to be revised, updated, and made more mobile friendly. Maybe it could be a joint project with MO Tourism.

Hello from Cuba, Missouri “Route 66 Mural City,”

Here’s an idea that the board might discuss that would help everyone up and down the road in Missouri. Other states are getting more proactive in promoting Route 66, and I think MO needs to look at we can do on a consistent basis to make our attractions/history known worldwide.

Visitors from all over the world visit Route 66 every year. Something like they are doing in Oklahoma (see above( would help preserve the legacy of Route 66.
