My two cents sent to the Library and Charlie Dooley

Hello: I am one of many who hope that you will reconsider your determination that the building where the Lewis and Clark Branch of the ST. Louis County is located. It is a unique and interesting building, which is, in my mind, part of what a library is supposed to be. It is apparently sound architecturally and while it may be a little smaller than other branches, it has the kind of character that most of your library branches do not possess. I have been to this library, and coming in from Lewis and Clark Blvd., it invites you, and I have found anything I would want there. And it is not like it is not connected to the other branches so if it is not there I can get it from somewhere else.

The City of St. Louis managed to save the old Naugles (formerly a Shell Station) located near the St. Louis University Campus. You could have put a bigger building there, and maybe made a few more bucks off the real estate, but it was decided that, while could do that, the loss would outweigh any gain that you could hope for. I see the same for the Lewis and Clark Library; it is a nice facility, it does its job, and at the same time it is unique. Don't use money to eradicate this structure just because you can. I thank you for your consideration. Kip Welborn, Friends of the Mother Road, Inc., Route 66 Association of Missouri.
