From David Eslick:
“The First Annual “Birthplace of Route 66 Festival” will be on Saturday, August 13 on College Street from Grant Ave. to however far West that we need to line up cars for the car show.
The West Central Neighborhood Association will host the event. Some of the hard part is done. The committee chairmen have stepped up to lead this festival.
There will be a meeting on Thursday, May 26 at the First Baptist Church Activities Building at 6:00 p.m. to fill these committees and make further plans.
Please plan on being there to help make this an AWESOME event.
You are encouraged to bring any of your friends that have any interest in promoting Springfield as the “Birthplace of Route 66. It is not necessary to RSVP, just show up.”
I’m looking forward to the festival… Nothing like celebrating the most iconic road in America and perhaps the greatest slice of Americana around!
